Eco Factor: Prototype kitchen saves energy and water.
Whirlpool has unveiled a green kitchen prototype at this year’s edition of the Eurocucina kitchen showcase at Milan Design Week. Dubbed GreenKitchen the prototype features an impressive set of water and energy saving fixtures.
The compact design incorporates a dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, oven and more. The kitchen makes use of induction cooking technology that saves up to 20 percent energy and 25 percent time. The system also includes a water recycling system that stores, filters and reuses cooking water for washing dishes. The company expects that the feature will help save up to 70 percent water.
Solar panels are also incorporated for heating water and the user can also program different appliances to start doing their job on their own. A resources assistant also finds some place in the countertop, which monitors consumption, costs and indicates other information necessary for cooking.
