Sometimes it just happens that an endeavor to create or find something ends up giving us something a lot better and a lot grander. While that is not always true, it is something that has happened in case of the spectacular Water + Life Museums that has taken spectacular shape in the heart of a place that was not too fancied by those with environment at heart. In the process of digging the huge Diamond Valley Lake Reservoir in Southern California, some significant fossils were discovered. The fossils now have a home that is both spectacular and also is the world’s first museum with LEED Platinum certification.

The Water + Life Museums happen to claim a right to being the world’s first LEED Platinum certified museum. The award-winning museum complex has received attention for its sustainable design features. For instance, the various structures are topped with a massive, 540-watt, and 3000 panel photovoltaic installation that provides roughly half the museum’s energy needs. It is not just wonderful in regards to its green features but also has some splendid architecture that will house these ancient relics.

The $40 M building also incorporates several other green elements, such as heat-blocking glass, natural light emitting windows, smart interior lighting, radiant floor heating and cooling, drought tolerant landscaping, and a drip irrigation system that uses reclaimed water. So it is no longer just the homes that are getting features that make them LEED certifiable, but even museums of the world.
