Volvo has announced its first sole economical V60 Plug-in Diesel Hybrid model to be unveiled in the Geneva Car Show 2011. This exceptional model, powered with an energy-efficient engine will emit lesser amount of carbon dioxide per kilometer and provide a high speed driving at 100 km/hr. Designed with active co-operation from the Swedish Energy Supplier Vattenfall, Volvo V60 Plug- in Diesel hybrid model is supposed to hit the market in 2012.

The unique designing of this car promises to provide the best performance possible for a hybrid model of diesel and electric power. The model ascertains minimum fuel usage emitting minimum amount of greenhouse gas in combination with exceptional driving and accelerating performance. The driver has the option to select among three driving modes like pure, hybrid and electric, pressing one of the three buttons neatly arranged on a control panel. All these three modes of operations are efficiently managed through an in-built control system providing the driver a smooth and enjoyable journey.

The Volvo V60 Plug-in Diesel Hybrid is equipped with a 215 bhp 2.4 liter D5 turbo diesel engine. The 70 bhp electric motor combined with 640 Nm torque enables the auto to hit an unprecedented speed of 100km/ hr in just 6.9 seconds emitting only 49 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer. Well, the electric capacity of this hybrid auto will allow the driver to ride almost 60 kilometers at a stretch. Most of the owners can also run this vehicle only in electric mode.
