Need I say more about the watch? Okay, maybe I do need to say a bit more about it. Actually it is pretty nice to see that watches nowadays are being made in such a fashion that they can completely do away with the batteries that run them. In that simple sense they are a lot more eco-friendly than they have been ever before. The fact that we will have to do with less toxic waste is pretty good, but what is better is the fact that we are finding new and improved ways to make those hands tick away.
Unlike all other watches in the market, this UR 202 one is driven by compressed air. Since the inner space is air-proof, the built-in twin turbines start spinning as long as temperature changed to driven the watch. Moreover, in order to cushion sharp movements and accordingly increases lifespan, there is a 3-position selector switch on the backside of the watch. In addition, the reading manner is fairly innovative. The three dials accompanied by their own rotating blocks are used to indicate hours and, at the same time, they adjust their length to mark the minutes.
I suppose this will not be the easiest watches to read and it will take a bit of getting used to. To be honest, I do not really like that part too much as it is not something that I would like to spend time on. I still happen to like those cool watches that run on kinetic energy the best as they use the energy of our movement to power themselves. But the whole idea of using compressed air is really cool. Just don’t expect them to work on that holiday to moon though!
