Uiliuili outdoor furniture is a smooth flow of design and eco friendliness

Modern furniture and their concepts all seek to provide not just comfortable seating, but designs that can make spaces come alive. The term furniture usually drives one to think of sofas, chairs and tables for interiors. But outdoor furniture is gaining in popularity too, prompting designers to think up novel concepts that not just offer relaxation areas but conversation pieces as well. Piotr Zuraw Architekt has conceived of an interesting unit of urban furniture designed for outdoor areas like public open spaces, playgrounds and parks. Made using digitally prefabricated wood, the seating system is a dynamic take on what urban furniture for the modern day looks like.

The interesting piece is unlike any we’ve come across, with its curved ends and bits of geometric design. Called ‘uiliuili’, the concept is informal and flows to provide a seamless seating system for people. Depending on how it is you want to relax, uiliuili offers you various positions owing to its quirky lines. You can sit upright and recline by choosing the different sections of the seating area.

Uiliuili is made out of repeating units and runs on an axis on a graph. The concept allows you to lengthen or shorten it based on the existing location. The prefab wood material forms 80x30mm cross sections with curves at the ends for the body, which are connected with steel frames. The sections are painted in vibrant colors to go with suitable settings.

The Polish designing firm and its architect Peter Crane have proposed ideas for many other projects. According to its portfolio, it has conceived a layout for Vistula Boulevards that features promenades and squares; green development and reconstruction of footpaths for Boulevard Xawery Dunikowski; and a hotel in Skarbimierz. Most of its designs make use of geometric lines and curves, creating a smooth and constant flow.
