UAE all set to unveil their very first solar powered car

Solar-powered Car
First it was their Masdar City, then it was their parliament building and now United Arab Emirates’ tryst with renewable source related technologies has reached yet another sustainable level, by making its foray into the all encompassing automotive industry. Unveiled right on the World Environment Day, this is UAE’s answer those Quantums and Eolians, as it is the nation’s very first completely solar powered car.

Designed by the Lootah Technical Centre in Dubai, this surprisingly stylish vehicle (especially when compared to the rigid forms followed by other solar cars) can scamper to a top speed of 45 km/hr. Comprising of lightweight fiberglass material, the aerodynamically designed car only weighs at around170kg.
Solar-powered Car
Unveiled byLouis Palmer, a solar energy advocate from Switzerland (who traveled the whole world with his 220 V vehicle), the adamantly ‘green’ conception was showcased ata celebratory event in much pomp and vigor, withMinister of Environment and Water, Rashid Bin Fahd in attendance. The Swiss said:

Fuel or food is not a good question, we have better biomass products to use instead but there is not enough to power all the cars in the world, but renewable energy sources are unlimited. The (solar) technologyis reliable and ready for everyday life.

The car is also expected to be showcased at the EPIC Dubai Sustainable Living Expo, from June 22-25 in Dubai Mall. But according to the company this conception is only the basic version, without any air conditioning system. So in the future we can expect more improved and efficient iterations of this fascinatingly sustainable solar powered car.
