Eco Factor: Toyota to develop all electric sportscar with Tesla.
Rumors are ripe around Toyota racking its brain to work out an all-electric super sports car program of its own with the help from its new partner, Tesla. It is believed that the plans to develop the electric supercar have already been put in motion.
The car will be powered by four electric motors, one at each wheel. The car is expected to generate more than 500 hp and make a dash from 0 to 60 mph in around 4 seconds.
According to sources, the supercar will also sport a switch allowing the driver to select between driving programs such as comfort, sport and super sport, thus helping regulate battery use.
Amidst all the rumbling what lends credence to the story is the fact that company CEO Akio Toyoda just signed a deal to invest some $50 million in electric sports car maker Tesla.
