Texas might be known for all the wrong reasons every now and then, but their dedication to renewable energy is sizeable than any other place, no wonder they are the nation leaders in wind power. The approval for a $4.9 billion plan to build transmission lines to carry wind power from West Texas to urban areas such as Dallas is certainly a very big step and now this can be used to the highest prospective. This project will account for enough lines to carry 18,000 MW, a serious amount of electricity to get 4 million homes going. Funded by the citizens who will have to pay $3 to $4 per month, a nominal amount as these are the people who are going to profit the most in the long run! Followed by money from the local inventors, and once this has been permitted it will start functioning within 3-5 years.
However, one of the Public Utility Commission member is on the stance that this project could over power the current electricity grid and delay the work of the other projects. But in reality this superhighway will not only generate electricity using renewable energy but also lower energy cost, reduce pollution and create job opportunities. This proposal could provide Texas with more wind energy than the next 14 states combined and is the largest investment in clean, renewable energy in US History, which not only profits Texas but the whole of USA!
