The pleasure boating market has increased its consumer reach almost exponentially over the recent years. And now it is about to take a huge and rather ‘green’ step forward by introducing the all new and petite Infinyte i4 catamaran which is completely electrically powered and is lauded to much less noisier than its combustion engined cousins.

This 4.3m craft with a capacity for 5, is efficiently powered by twin 24 V motors, designed by Mercury Marine’s MotorGuide division. It has a time range of running for 10hrs, though it substantially also depends upon the battery usage. It can be recharged from 240 V outlets, but most conveniently it can also be recharged from its very own on-board charger.

This craft was intentionally designed with its compact features for greater maneuverability and speed. The catamaran can reach a ‘fleeting’ speed of 13 kph, courtesy of its sturdy batteries. The controls are also kept simple with joystick controls allowing 360 degrees of effortless maneuverability. Even the weight of this agile craft is just about 223kg (710 pounds), making it pretty easy to be towed.

From the cost perspective the i4 is touted to be $12,999. The Canadian company Infinyte Marine also plans on designing a much larger i8 with a capacity for 10 with an enhanced speed of 32 kph!
