Terry Kenny and his Dragon Power Station to clean up and light up American roads

It is wonderful that someone can take something that is the most damaging to the cause of the planet and turn it in to something so special that it actually helps the planet. That takes some pretty special talent, plenty of courage and a will to make a difference. In case of Terry Kenny, it is hard to argue that he has not got any of those and that is exactly why he is today realizing his long cherished dream. In the process he not only has done himself a favor, but also has helped the planet immensely. But sticking to what the man believes, let us not talk about the individual but about his marvelous invention.

The man has created plates and a system to be put on roads that actually creates energy from the trucks that pass over them. This could mean that every busy road across the planet could soon be transformed. The vision of this man was considered impossible before it actually was achieved. The shed in the San Francisco Bay allows a truck to rumble at about 15 miles per hour over a group of narrow plates embedded in the asphalt, and a moment later, a solar-powered shed beside the road begins converting that in to electrical energy.

As the trucks power at low speeds across the plates, they compress a tank of hydraulic fluid under the road, which in turn creates a series of pumping actions that turns a generator to produce electricity. By June, Kenney projects the apparatus, which he dubbed the “Dragon Power Station,” will be producing 5,000 to 7,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each day; enough to power up to 1,750 homes. The project not only cleans up roads but creates a new way to create energy from existing sources. While the technology seems like something that should catch on easily, Kenny is still finding it hard to get investment. That truly is an absolute shame as this seems to be a pretty good business venture. Hope that changes very soon!
