tata power plans indias largest photovoltaic power

Eco Factor: Photovoltaic power plant to generate up to 50MW of electrical power.

India’s National Solar Mission, which aims to install about 20GW of solar power by 2020, has attracted several private and government-controlled companies to develop renewable energy-based power plants in the country. Tata Power, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, is planning to set-up the country’s largest photovoltaic power plant in Mithapur, Gujarat.

The power plant will be able to generate up to 50MW of clean electrical power, which will probably be used by the manufacturing plants of their Tata Group’s other subsidiaries and a part of the energy could be fed into the national grid.
