Stunning and impressive furniture made from marine mines

Mines are not something you would want to work with, or even go near, for that matter. Marine mines are the same, only a lot more dangerous. Their size however, does allow them to be repurposed into some very cool objects, as the work of Estonian artist Mati Karmin shows. The artist worked with marine mines to change those deadly and horrid objects into things far more acceptable, desirable even.

Wardrobe

Wardrobe

This beautiful wardrobe looks like it could have come straight out of a steampunk novel. What a cool way to store your clothes. It would great in homes with modern styles. It was made by using the top and bottom parts of an old mine shell. Other pieces of mine were used to create the elongated body. Creating a custom-made look that canโ€™t be found anywhere else. The wardrobe itself rests on antique metal, used to create a platform for it.

Fish tank

Fish tank

Are you in the market for a creative conversation piece for your living room? Look no further than this aquarium. Capable of holding 110-150 liters of water, this is not your average aquarium. Using the hemispheres of one full mine, and the half of another, the aquarium took form. The only part not antique is the working parts inside, the glass, and the fish themselves. To give it an even more antique look, the artist partially covered some of the glass with metal sheet covering.

Grill oven

Grill

Here we have a mine turned grill. The design of this grill uses a complete mine, unlike some of the other designs that required dismantling and other spare parts. While it might not be a high-tech grill, it is certainly capable of handling all of your grilling needs. The grill has convenient rubber-lined wheels that make it mobile.

Davenport table

Davenport table

This could be the finest piece to set off any home or business office. The rusted metal has a warm look that goes great with the slab of granite that acts as the desk. There is plenty of space for office equipment and it is sturdy enough to withstand the test of time.

DCF 1.0

Armchair

This armchair design is called The Farmer. The cowhide pattern is one of the first things you notice when you look at this piece. The material looks soft and beckoning, a nice contrast against the metal surroundings. An added feature of the chair is its ability to recline backwards, thanks to the wheels at its base.
