Eco Factor: Sustainable development to harvest rainwater and solar energy.
Studio Shift has unveiled the designs for a new 3000-seat Sports Center to be developed in Miyi County that will provide a multi-purpose venue to accommodate sporting events such as badminton, table tennis and basketball. The main Sports Center complex is divided into smaller venues that feature a 200-seat tennis court, swimming pool and several badminton and table tennis courts.
The architects are considering various thin-film photovoltaic technologies as critical components of the vast roof. Moreover, strategies will also be employed to collect rainwater and reuse it within the building. A glazing system will allow for selective control of glare and heat gain through treatment of individual panes.
The Sports Center is bounded by linear parks on the east and the South, which carries an irrigation canal and follows a natural creek, respectively. The sports center is anticipated to be complete by spring 2013.
