South Korea investing 8.2 billion dollars in an offshore wind power farm

Eco Factor: Massive offshore wind farm to generate about 2,500 megawatts of electricity.

The latest green move gets South Korea into investing some 9.2 trillion won (8.2 billion dollars) into building a gigantic offshore wind farm to develop new sources of renewable energy. The project by a collaborative effort from Hyundai Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering would make provisions for 500 turbines.

To be developed built near the southwestern counties of Buan and Yeonggwang, the wind farm is scheduled to be ready by 2019 to generate about 2,500 megawatts of electricity.
