Green, hybrid, eco-friendly cars in whole have found their place on our blog but till date I hadn’t come across green tires. Either nothing was said about them or that I was blissfully ignorant about them. However today it has dawned upon me a Korean tire company, Kumho, has just taken wraps off their latest eco-friendly tire, at the REIFEN 2008, in Essen, Germany. Dubbed as the Solus KH19, it is intended to boost fuel efficiency, leave lesser carbon tire-prints and also make less noise. Instead of simply being concerned about the longevity of tires, we need to choose a tire based on factors that render longevity to our planet too! Based on proprietary technologies including KADAS (tyre structure simulation technology), ESCOT (tyre contour optimisation technology) and TTIA (tyre-terrain interaction analysis), this line of green tires boasts a 35 percent improvement in rolling resistance and a six percent decrease in CO2 emissions to be precise. It is also made of more eco-friendly materials, including low PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) oils and non-petroleum fillers. All said, please drive safe!
