Eco-friendly or solar powered products and equipments are not necessarily expensive every time. If one has good knowledge, targeted customers in mind, and of course innovative ideas, reduction in the cost of the green products is quite possible even without compromising the standard or quality. Symington’s Solar-powered Sojourn, an experimental idea based on modifying the Papillon (butterfly) design, is a similar blend of innovation and quality, and that too in a reasonable price. It is an effective solar cooker for that is designed for both individual as well as family size. Though the great ergonomics with polished aluminum sheets for reflectors cost too expensive, but by reversing and modify the Papillon to work with mirror facets make it cheaper and locally producible. Hopefully the concept will soon be materialized and reach the costumers on a large scale.
