Now there is a better, eco-friendly way to see the Statue Of Liberty – by traveling there in a noiseless and fumeless boat. New York City is all set to begin service of its new solar and wind powered hybrid ferry. These are 100% petroleum-free.
The ferry is called “Miss Statue of Liberty” and has been made in partnership with Solar Sailor of Australia.
While in use, the ferry makes use of a sail covered in solar panels that stores energy from the sun and wind. This is a 600 passenger, 115 foot trimaran ferry.
Solar Sailor and Circle Line (the ferry operator that provides service to the Statue of Liberty) both believe that this is an excellent model and has enormous potential to make people aware of the environment.
