This is a product whose arrival is long over due. I mean, since high school I have been told that used up batteries with chemicals still present inside them cause some of the most serious toxic damage to the environment. But no one seems to have taken notice of this fact.
“SoftBattery” is a flexible, thin, eco-friendly product developed by “Enfucell”, a Finnish company. The battery is 0.3-1.0mm thin & produces a current of 1.5-3.0 Volts. This battery is a result of 10 years of research by the company in this direction. The battery is resistant to both moisture & wetness.
Sure the battery produces a very low voltage. But that is still a continuous production of current. It finds its use in paper industry, Cosmetics & Pharmaceutical industry. Though for now its uses are limited, it paves way for a new generation of batteries that are toxic free once they are disposed of. The product is sleek & compact so I would not be surprised if it soon finds more applications in a world that is constantly trying to go more sleek, stylish & compact.
