Neither every Smart car invades the roads nor do all Smart concepts turn into a dream reality. Few Smart models run for a short period before fading into oblivion. The Smart ForSpeed, a Smart concept of Daimler’s full electric mini model sans roof, is being launched before the commencement of the Geneva Motor Show, revealing a stylish look with eye-catching features. The Smart ForSpeed is the perfect two-seated model bearing striking resemblances with the Smart Speedster that took off a fortnight back.

This unique green model of ForSpeed is fitted with an efficient electric motor of 41 HP that peaks up to a speed of 37 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. The Smart ForSpeed can attain a maximum speed of 75 miles per hour not fully abiding with the name. The electric-driven gear of the Smart ForSpeed takes less time to peak 37mph than any standard electric drive (ED) Smart two-seated auto.

The energy-efficient motor of the Smart ForSpeed model can provide a smart drive to an estimated 85 miles without a break, and an 80% charging up is possible within just 45 minutes for you to continue with the joy ride. Most probably the charging is carried through DC chargers to charge it up faster, which can be confirmed only with the Smart ForSpeed’s maiden appearance in the Geneva car show.

In general, the ForSpeed model is almost an imitated version of the Smart Crossblade model that hit the roads at the start of 2000. Though produced in limited numbers, this model did carry some innovative concepts. In order to avoid the “copy cat” labeling, the ForSpeed model does not carry any door handles at the exterior and are designed with attractive tail lights. The toneau cover provided in this roofless model can cover up the whole interior or a selected seat providing due protection when required.
