Sleek and stylish PSI could become Spain’s first ever solar-powered bus stop

One look at the PSI Solar-powered bus stop and you can see why and how it fits so well into the world of tomorrow. It is simple in design, ergonomic in use and utilizes green energy for its power needs. In fact, if you are not using the power produced by the PSI for lighting at night continuously, then you can use it an energy source for other commercial and domestic purposes.

The PSI Solar Bus Stop designed by Ruben Oya, allows you to display the information of 6 bus lines simultaneously, for the convenience of the commuter. It also has a seat and a night-time lighting facility that is powered by energy generated and stored by its own solar panels during daytime. While no figures were offered for the concept creation, you can use the excess power, if any, to light up maybe street lamps also.

The design in itself may not be as impressive as some others, but two things caught our eye as soon as we looked at the PSI. The first one is the structure behind the solar-powered bus stop that is over-flowing with vegetation. That looks really cool indeed! The second is the potential commercial public structures such as parking lots, bus stops and others hold in generating clean solar power.

While putting photovoltaic panels above domestic rooftops is fine, we could generate huge amounts of energy by turning these public buildings into solar panel installations. Just a thought furthered by PSI…
