Sky Voyager to help ease road traffic congestion

Visions of future transport systems have helped our imaginations take flight. Current concepts of what transportation of the future will look like have spawned vehicles that will be able to travel underwater, in the skies and on land. This is an exciting time for the human race as at the rate our technology is progressing, we may very well see these ideas turn into reality. One such concept is called Sky Voyager, which takes the airship as its inspiration. Eco friendly and with a view to easing ground traffic congestion, Sky Voyager has been conceived by Jet Shao as a futuristic means of personal transport.

Sky Voyage Personal Blimpjet

The hybrid glider concept has a cockpit similar to that of a helicopter, above which is installed a huge gasbag. It is this bag, which will provide the necessary lift for the Sky Voyager. When the Voyager is at rest on the ground, the gasbag apparatus is set an angle of 45 degrees. When it needs to take to the skies, the gasbag is raised to a 90 degree angle, forming an airfoil.

The craft can be controlled through wind with the help of two turbines powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Sky Voyager can take off like a blimp so you won’t need a runway. Parking could, however be problematic as when the Sky Voyger deflates; it collapses only partially and will not fit in the driveway.

Shao seems eager to make his concept a reality as he has even built a small prototype. Like all concepts, Sky Voyager opens our eyes to futuristic eco friendly forms of transport. We don’t know how close to reality his design will come, but it surely seems fascinating to own a personal blimpjet.
