Six-cylinder engine to run on digester gas from landfills!

Gasoline may go obsolete as an engine fuel! This is what a small company in north central Iowa hopes. The Hydrogen Engine Center Inc. has built a clean six-cylinder engine, which amazingly can run on a number of fuels — like hydrogen, ethanol, natural gas, propane or even digester gas from landfills!

Led by a retired Ford Motor Co. engineer, the company hopes to meet Environmental Protection Agency automotive 2007 emission standards. All the engines are branded by the company as Oxx Power and all the 81 parts are original Oxx Power.

Aiming to make more efficient, environmental friendlier engines for replacing those used in generators and in forklift trucks, airline ground equipment, irrigation pumps, tractors and buses, the company informed that the 9,500 vehicles of the American Airlines alone are likely to be converted to alternative fuels over the next decade.
