Shell: Green Burial In the Sea

a watery adieu in a green way

What we do, our children follow. How we contribute to the Environment and make this place a better place is something our children must learn. Before we bid adieu to our loved ones, let’s make this promise that even the last bit of us is offered to the environment and in the right way. And why not, we owe it to nature.

Thanks to population explosion, across globe, we are running out of space for cemetery, to which Swedish designers from Lots designs have found a solution. Keeping with the faith and old tradition of submersing one’s ashes in the sea, a ‘Shell’ as it is called is one’s last chance to celebrate both design and nature in the most dignified form. An urn that will carry your last remains is made from bio degradable pressed paper that will dissolve with time. A unique way though, one can leave a message for their loved ones by either writing on the Shell itself or placing notes and objects through a pocket located on the top. Nothing but the words shall remain as the last remains go into a deep slumber.
