Seagull-Inspired new Airplane Wings to save fuel during drag

drag and save fuel 9
To save fuel while dragging an airplane, scientists have taken inspirations from seagulls! They have found airplane wings shaped like those of some seagulls, which may reduce drag during flight.

Barry Lazos, an aeronautics research engineer at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia has chosen seagull to inspire their airplane model, after studying creatures that propel themselves through air and water — both fluids — for inspiration.

Barry Lazos said,

We can reduce drag [with existing technology], but many techniques are often costly and impractical… Our idea was to look to nature for feasible techniques that might provide significant drag reduction.
