Eco Factor: Zero-emission electric-assist bicycle.
Sanyo has unveiled a new range of Eneloop electric hybrid bicycles that not only recharge the onboard battery when going downhill, but does the same even if you’re pedaling on level ground. The new SPL series features a unique regenerative charging “Loop Charge*3” function, which enables the battery to be charged while riding, traveling downhill and decelerating.
The new “Eco Charge Mode” controls the charging rate by ascertaining overall conditions such as foot pressure on the pedals and changes in dynamotor revolution speed. Moreover, in this mode, the motor assist automatically kicks in when the rider encounters an uphill stretch, to ease the ride. Then on downhill portions, the motor automatically switches to a dynamo to charge the battery.
