Samsung now intends to introduce a solar powered netbook – Samsung NC215S in the Russian market. Due to its distinctive features, it is considered a much promising product. The eco friendly netbook has solar panels built on its lid which facilitates easier automatic charging. The netbook has an impressive overall battery life of around 14.5 hours.

The netbook has 1 GB RAM and is powered by Intel ATOM N570 (166 GHz). It has LED display and has an effective anti-reflective coating on it, which is said to give very colorful and vivid images even in direct sunlight. The new 10 inch netbook cannot be charged completely using solar energy but with only two hours spent under the sun, it could preserve the charge for an hour.

The step to instigate greener products by the electronics giant is quite appreciative. This solar powered netbook was introduced with a vision to provide maximum performance with minimum emission of carbon dioxide. With the automatic inbuilt solar panels, the carbon dioxide emission into the atmosphere could be reduced significantly when compared to other exclusively electric- powered netbooks.The netbook is also made out of easily recyclable materials. Another interesting feature of this netbook is that one need not to wait 30 – 60 seconds for it to boot. It is said to provide a super fast start with its Samsung Fast Start mode. It also has a keyboard with isolated island keys which prevents dirt buildup between the keys.

This netbook is an excellent option for those who want to take it to parks for a picnic or such, for direct sunlight is plenty for this. The efficiency of the netbook lid to absorb the sunlight is for hours, if there are no hindrance such as dirt, dust and scratches. Samsung claims the superior Duracase coating on the lid that prevents every scratches. Even though the company claims such extraordinary features, its effectiveness is yet to be determined. Samsung would be introducing this new netbook in Russia and U.S in the first week of July and in Europe after that. The company has revealed that the price of the new solar powered netbook in U.S would be $399 while 13999 Rubles in Russia.
