Qatar to get iconic ‘cross-sword’ towers to host World Cup guests

Major Middle East nation Qatar is to get an iconic architectural marvel inspired by the country’s insignia, two crossed swords in shape of a crescent. Well, the astounding ‘cross-sword’ towers will first accommodate football fans and officials, who turn up for the 2022’s World Cup. The five-star status hotel will later act as a perfect getaway for leisure travelers to the country. The structure is a flagship project of Katara Hospitality, a Qatar-based architectural firm, formerly known as Qatar National Hotels Company.

The ‘cross sword’ building project, called the Lusail Marina Iconic, has just been officially unveiled. The massive structure is set to locate at 16 kilometers north of Doha city center and it is proposed to house up to 250,000 people. According to Katara Hospitality’s CEO Hamad Abdulla Al Mulla, the Lusail Mariana Iconic project is meant as a leading hospitality landmark for the county, which targets to leapfrog in architectural development ahead of the World Cup.

The construction will have around 800 units, which will comprise of offices, large residential facilities, recreational hubs, specialist boutiques, restaurants and other advanced facilities. The project is set to finish by 2016, Al Mulla said. If you wish to have a look at this marvelous project, Katara Hospitality is to exhibit it at the upcoming Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai.

Katara Hospitality targets to expand its hotel network to 60 from 40 by 2030. It also aims to spread out its business to 220 countries in coming years, the company CEO said.
