Prometheus: A mobile station designed to supply clean power and water

Mobile stations allude to a novel scope, which is seldom discussed by us green enthusiasts. Envisaged as a portable system that can provide reliable power and water supply in harsh environments; the station is infused with a slew of sustainable features.

Firstly, coming to scope of renewable energy harvesting, the system consists of both wind power and solar power mechanisms. In fact, the wind power mechanism entails the use of a horizontal axis wind turbine that can be erected on a telescopic boom. This telescopic handler and the turbine form an integral part of the vehicle. And, as for solar power generation, the Prometheus will have an inbuilt photovoltaic array, which can be stretched and exposed from the side facade for harnessing sunlight.

Other than the clean power mechanisms, the station is also equipped with water supply components. These include a special water generator, along with water filter and water tanks. Generally, the water fillers can help in deriving and purifying drinkable water from close by sources such as rivers and lakes. However, if there is any problem with this system, the station can revert back to its indigenous Atmospheric Water Generator, which can produce up to 700 liters of potable water each day.

Finally, coming to the mechanism of the station itself, it has been thought of as a robust off road truck, with ten wheels. The design scope is fully modular, with the incorporated systems having the capacity to be separated and used individually. In fact, all of the components can be fueled by a dual mode consisting of both diesel and renewable energy power trains.
