Prince Charles turns his Aston eco friendly with bioethanol fuel

prince charles UcP8Z 5784 This time Prince Charles isn’t in news for the lovely ladies, ex or current, in his life but for a valid reason that has bought him to our green blog. The charming Prince has converted the 38-year-old classic car, Aston Martin DB6, to run on 100 per cent bioethanol fuel distilled from surplus British wine. In an attempt to reduce his carbon footprints, it is also known he has already hit his target of cutting carbon emissions by 12.5 per cent by 2012. The car, a 21st birthday present from the Queen, is kept at Highgrove and clocks up just 300 miles a year – averages ten miles a gallon, the equivalent of 4.5 bottles of wine for every mile. At £1.10 a liter, the bioethanol is only slightly cheaper than conventional petrol, but is estimated to produce 85 per cent less carbon dioxide. Green thumbs up for Prince of Wales!
