Eco Factor: Concept auditorium powers itself with human effort.
Designer Petar Bojovic has envisioned a unique auditorium that needs no external power source and can be installed anywhere in minimum time. Christened the Boobamara Auditorium, this concept structure is equipped with an effective bicycle system that may help in transforming a community into a bike-friendly and sustainable environment.
The Boobamara auditorium’s function relies entirely on the action and interaction of its users. Collective teamwork of the spectators in the auditorium can help produce electrical energy which is necessary for all activities. Energy used for sound and lights is generated by the audience who sits on bicycles and pedal during the show. The designer believes that the system offers a possibility of creating an active audience that will provide electric energy for diverse events.
Each bike is connected to a generator which provides electricity. An average bike will be able to produce up to 200Wh of electricity, which is stored in batteries and used for lighting and sound, making the mechanism self-sufficient in terms of energy.
The structure is to be made from lightweight, collapsible wood structure. The envelope is made from polycarbonate and the movable parts such as the wings of the structure are created from impregnated fabric. Each segment can be opened independently so the structure could be transformed from enclosed cocoon to fully open space.
