Eco Factor: Electronic device uses magnetic induction for heating and cooling, thereby saving electricity.
Designer Peter Elwin has won Electrolux’s Design Lab competition for crafting a portable heating and cooking device that helps save electricity. Dubbed the Snail, the device lets you get around gas or oil stoves to heat the objects using magnetic induction. All you have to do is place it aside something like a pot or pan to heat up the contents.
The device gets powered by a high density sugar crystal battery. Interestingly, the Snail has integrated sensors that automatically adjust the time and temperature required by sensing the food type. It also features a simple touch sensitive display with interface which helps to monitor the process.
