Plus One Auto: Urban car sharing program to cut down on the excesses

plus one top

There are many of us who really do not use our cars other than to get to the office and get back home. Maybe there is the occasional weekend drive to do some shopping, but if you are single and drive your car daily to work and back, then the amount of energy and fuel wasted is immense. Not to mention the carbon footprint that you leave behind. The ‘+One Auto’ program aims at cutting out these excesses, while also offering a medium of transportation to those who do not own their own cars.

The Plus One Auto urban car sharing program, designed by Brian Jeffcock, is exactly what it claims to be. It allows people in an urban community to share public cars as a mode of transportation by just paying for the drive. The program is like a mass sharing exercise where the specially designed all-electric cars will be rented out for people to drive around in. Designed to seat 3 people at a time, you can actually take the car, drive it around for your needs and park it back in the docking space.

To be a part of this program, the designer plans to on a community where you will need to sign up and the “Plus One membership card” will be delivered to you upon approval. Once they have verified that you are a safe and responsible driver with a good track record, you will just need to swipe the card at any of the Plus One Auto points and you can take the car out on a drive. Depending on your meter, your credit card will be charged automatically.

The idea here is to provide a clean and green alternate transportation system that gives you the comfort of a car while cutting down on the wastage of the resources. We simply love this idea and hopefully a system like this will be up and running soon to at least test how well it can function in the real world.
