Eco Factor: Östhammar’s park, hotel and spa to offer sustainability with magnificent view.
The site that was a vital part of Östhammar in the 19th century will soon become an eco destination for many. Stockholm-based Arrhov Frick has designed a park, hotel and spa in the stunningly beautiful Östhammar, Sweden. Titled the “Parklife,” the project aims to make a beautiful recreational and relaxing place with as little footprint as possible.
It includes three connected circles of gravel footpaths that divide the site in smaller parts with the possibility of giving each inner circle a different program and atmosphere. Stacked in four floors, the entire structure features a hotel in the south corner and the restaurant to the north. The lush green park makes the views truly mesmerizing.
A large public roof terrace is an attempt to replaces the loss of area in the park, caused by the hotel’s footprint. Displaying the entire project like platform for different activities with a magnificent view of the town and the sea, helped Arrhov Frick bag the 1st spot in Europan 10.
