NIT: Turning Packaging cardboard into a lovely night stand

We are all pretty excited when we bring home a new gadget or bring in brand new furniture as you move from one place to another. While the product inside those boxes is welcomed with glee, what happens to the box that it comes in is anybody’s guess. It pretty much finds its way onto the attic where it sits till you need to pack something in it again (which is the case if you are the reuse kind) or most often is discarded and finds its way into the dump. But in the case of Adrian Candela, the cardboard packaging has turned into a beautiful night stand.

Nit Night Stand

Dubbed as ‘Nit’, which apparently means night in Catalan, the night table is has been made out of all those packaging boxes that arrived from IKEA after Candela moved and decided to go out and shop a bit to find the best possible look for her new home. When she was done with decorating the home the way she wanted, what were left were boxes of cardboard that seemed to be not of any great use. But Candela used a bit of imagination and ingenuity to turn these dull boxes into a beautiful night stand, which also seems pretty sturdy.

Nit was created using three 2.5 mm sheets of cardboard and we ourselves are now thinking of the few boxes that are lying on the attic and how we can create something very similar. The idea is not just a good recycling project, but its simplicity and the ergonomic form of the finished night stand should have everyone interested. If you too have some old boxes lying around, then try out and see if you too can make something similar… You will be surprised what you can be capable of when you discover the joy of recycling!
