New micro-turbines can produce electricity from slightest of breezes

suitable for city dwellers 9
Following the footsteps of the fitness club types in Hong Kong, who are trying to generate a bit of renewable energy, inventor Lucien Gambarota now – apart from converting those cardio into voltage — is showing off some more innovative power-saving sources like these micro-wind turbines.

Disappointingly, the whole of the Hong Kong city, excepting a single wind turbine on a small outer island, is not fed with enough wind for traditional turbines to produce electricity there.

But, with the Gambarota’s new micro-turbines, this problem is solved. It is capable of generating electricity with a wind speed of as little as 2 mph! The micro-turbines keep turning at all times even from the slightest of breezes.

There is nothing complex a technology used for it. They ate just little windmills – rather gearwheels — mounted in an array. The mills can be arranged in different shapes and sizes – be it two or thousands of square meters.

The energy thus produced is put into a battery for powering appliances in the building. Just invest about $25 for a set of 20 gearwheels, and got he energy-efficient way with windmills requiring the slightest breeze to all that good.
