New Mexico to get world’s biggest solar farm to power 240,000 homes!

It challenges the world’s biggest solar farm! Once built, it would be 30 times the size of the world’s biggest. It is a US$1.6 billion solar power farm that can supply power for 240,000 homes!

Operating the joint venture, New Solar Ventures and another start-up company, Solar Torx, both based in Phoenix, claims to be able to generate about 300 megawatts of electricity when the sun shines to its full.

According to lead developer Ed Balch of New Solar Ventures, a private company, the panels will be spread out over 3,200 acres near Deming, New Mexico. Standing on pedestals about six to eight feet tall, the panels will be 10-feet by 5-feet.

Noah Kaye, spokesman for the Washingon-based Solar Energy Industries Association said,

If this is built, it would be the biggest solar farm in the United States by an order of 60.
