New cheap surgical-glue from fungus discovered

surgery involves stitching

Here is an alternative to the thread surgeons use during surgeries. It is a glue! The Czech scientists have discovered a glue — called chitosan – that can easily replace the thread used by surgeons to stitch.

The glue too will function just like the standard thread used, but its advantage is that there is no use to cut post-surgery stitches as it easily decomposes in the body without any creating any side effect.

The substance mostly produced from shells of crustaceans, can be used as a carrier of healing substances. As the production of the glue from crustaceans won’t be cheap, Czech scientist also found new source of the raw material — a fungus, found in used waste material in some productions. This source lowers the production-cost of chitosin amazingly by a half!
