To produce the eco-friendly alternative to fossil fuel – ethanol, new and advanced biomass crops are planned to be developed and commercialized. To reach the goal, Ceres, Inc. and the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Inc. have come into a broad, long-term collaboration.

The ‘switch grass’ along with other energy crops grown in the U.S. can produce over 100 billion gallons of ethanol per year! This amount keeps aside its still allowing food, animal feed and meeting export demands.

Under the terms of agreement between Ceres and Noble Foundation, Ceres under an exclusive license will elite switch-grass germplasm and advanced varieties developed by The Noble Foundation breeders.

Michael A. Cawley, President of the Noble Foundation said,

This collaboration is an opportunity to participate in the development of new markets for agricultural producers and to expand agricultural production into non-productive or marginal lands using environmentally beneficial crops and practices.
