It is very well said that necessity is the mother of invention and the same thing had led a Chinese farmer of Qiqiao village, Shaanxi province in inventing his own solar-powered water heater out of beer bottles and hosepipes.
The new invention has made use of 66 beer bottles that are attached to a plank. For the water flow, the farmer, Ma Yanjun has connected bottles to each other. Sun’s heat heats up the water filled bottles and then this water passes slowly through the bottles, finally flowing into the bathroom as hot water.
On his invention for his mother Ma Yanjun said:
I invented this for my mother. I wanted her to shower comfortably.
The water heated by using solar energy provides enough hot water for all three members of his family to have a shower every day.
Inspired by Ma Yanjun more than 10 families in the same village have followed this suit and installed their own versions with Ma’s invention.
