Namba Parks – A green twist to the land of rising sun!

Folks from Japan ingeniously manage to come up with the most unusual in every aspect of life. Be it technology or even environment friendly! The land of rising sun can now be also touted as the land of most unusually designed green architecture. Though Japan isn’t well known for its green spaces, this patch in Osaka dares to be different. Build at a location which earlier house a baseball stadium, this extraordinarily designed complex, Namba Parks, consists of a 30-floor skyscraper, Parks Tower, and a shopping mall with eight floors of terraced gardens. While providing a highly visible green component, the sloping park connects to the street, welcoming passers-by to enjoy its groves of trees, clusters of rocks, cliffs, lawn, streams, waterfalls, ponds and outdoor terraces. Beneath the park, a canyon carves an experiential path through specialty retail, entertainment and dining venues.

Apart from the greenery feature, I don’t think this project is truly eco-friendly by getting rid of grids. Didn’t find any mention of solar panels or wind turbines.
