A 1 to 5 megawatt solar farm would be built for a photovoltaic unit in western Rajasthan by the New Delhi based Moser Baer India. This is a project of $25 million and a written agreement was signed between Moser Baer Photovoltaic and Rajasthan Government. The CEO of Moser Baer Photovoltaic, Ravi Khanna said that MBPV with its world class manufacturing and newest of technology along with commercially feasible grid-connected PV energy system wants to redefine the solar power generation through this project in India. This is going to be the largest grid-connected solar farm in India.

Moser Baer is also looking up for the option of setting such large projects in SAARC countries, which includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Company also said that it is looking for some tie-ups with world’s leading solar companies so that to put up a capacity of 500 megawatt by 2010. This could be possible by mixing crystalline silicon, concentrator and thin film technologies.
