Monster Tajima set to electrify at 2012 Pikes Peak Climb

The notion that electric motors are generally not powerful, is based in misconception and if you still have doubts, Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima is all set to shatter them soon. For those who are not really familiar with the Tajima, the vehicle happens to participate in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event that is held each year in Colorado. And not surprisingly, the Tajima has been a two time record setter, 10 minute barrier breaker, competition shatter reigning champion of the event for the last six years.

Monster Tajima Goes All-Electric For 2012 Pikes Peak Run

The monster will thread new history as this time it attempts to scale 4,700 feet climb by using an all electric engine to power it on. It is going up against the gas guzzling giants with an electric engine, which will most likely bring in the first title on an electric set of wheels. Well, just because it has gone electric, do not expect the Tajima to go on softer on opponents now.

There have been other cars that have gone electric before for the climb, but with the Tajima going electric, the intent is to showcase the advantages of electric engines and that they are no less than the gasoline powered ones when it comes to sheer oomph. The team of Tajima is part of Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles (APEV) and they are doing more than their bit to ensure that emission free wheels become more and more popular.
