Eco Factor: Zero-emission vehicle powered by an all-electric engine.
Mercedes-Benz has provided some details of its all-electric SLS AMG E-Cell prototype vehicle. The EV does have slightly less horsepower than its gas-powered sibling, but still boasts an impressive 526hp and 649-pound-feet of torque. The E-Cell blasts to 60mph in just four seconds.
The vehicle will be powered by lithium-ion polymer battery modules that are located in the center tunnel just behind the two seats. To keep the electrical components cool, the vehicle includes two cooling circuits, an extended front apron to assist airflow under the body and an extendable front splitter that can be controlled by the driver.
On the outside, the vehicle features a wider front grille, LED headlights, new air outlets on the bonnet. The interior features an AMG instrument cluster providing information regarding speed and charge status.
