MediPOD: Self-sustaining capsular environment to augment health care

medipod

Proposed by Canadian architectural designer James Doxon, the MediPOD is a medical marvel created to aid this pandemic plagued world. It is a self-sustaining, cellular module designed to uplift orthodox medical care services. It is an exclusive environment which houses various on-board processes, which, in turn, help in controlling and minimizing the exposure of diseases to the external world.

It is like a mini hospital capable of detecting and diagnosing diseases. When the mediPOD detects a disease (pandemic), the patient is immediately quarantined (isolated), so that its outbreak gets restricted. Also, through its feature of high speed wireless communications, one can hold tele-consults through it, with health professionals regardless of time and location. Thus, a MediPOD structure nearby can conjure the comforts of a hospital patient room and transform a seemingly alarming situation to a controlled and manageable one.

Apart from its therapeutic functions, it also makes a point of playing a part in disease prevention by being host to a water recycle process. It can convert black water (waste water) into drinking water, serving another great cause of ‘water preservation’. Moreover, as mentioned earlierm it is a self sustaining unit, and is powered by converting solar energy to hydrogen. In case of an assemblage of such pods, any pod not in use can generate its stored hydrogen to other units of the structure, setting into motion an environment friendly, green dream project.

This curative genius packs in various facilities from disease management and sanitation and water conservation to a camouflaged aid to the environment.
