The idea behind MATscape is to allow the resident to shape the look of his home in a way he chooses. This does away with the traditional constraints where you have to live with the designer’s vision rather than your own. The eco-friendly colony of the future will have homes covered in a synthetic skin that changes with the seasons. It is made out of various blocks that are assembled together to cover your home. Each block can be changed without affecting the others, which allows you to change the vegetation as you wish.
The mosaic skin is kinetic rather than the static design of modern buildings. It also produces energy by using either solar panels to tap into the energy of the sun or uses the latest science of the piezoelectric effect to tap into the energy of the wind. This is again a change from the modern trend of using smaller wind turbines, which are not very efficient.
