Massive magnetic levitation wind-turbine – Cheap power for 750,000 homes

maglevturbine

When I first saw this freaking skyscraper sort ‘maglev wind turbine‘, I felt pity for the birds; they will rue their fate – why in the first place they are in the air. Okay, as the requirement for clean energy augment, it is time the wind turbines grew relatively, not only in quantity but in size too – for producing cheaper and green energy – backing the notion I was compelled to realize, this projected innovation could sure be a key penetration into the progression of global wind power technology.

It is a concept from a new Arizona-based company that proposes to build a massive magnetic levitation wind turbine that will be apt enough to produce a gigawatt of clean energy (enough to power 750,000 homes), at a cost of about one cent per kilowatt an hour estimate, in comparison to the present day large wind turbines that produce 5 megawatt of power.

It is an amazingly huge structure with a roughly estimated footprint of 100 acres, while several hundred meters in height. It perhaps will be expensive to build but according to experts – a huge turbine as this reduces the cost of construction and maintenance, allowing the investors recover their money in just a year.

There will be problems with this edifice, this relatively large thing will require a rather huge amount of wind, and moreover it will require acres and acres of land – but for sure, this single huge structure will any day require lesser land-space than many hundred wind-turbines that will produce equal amount of energy.
