Lycee Jean Moulin: Sustainable architecture in harmony with nature

Lycee Jean Moulin in Revin

OFF Architecture in association with Jeans Giacinto and Duncan Lewis Scape Architecture have designed the Lycee Jean Moulin in Revin, France which is a school building made in harmony with the green surroundings. This amazing and uniquely designed ‘green’ school cannot be seen as a distinct structure from a distance as it blends in thoroughly with the natural landscape of the hill.

This structure is ‘camouflaged’ with its layered grass roof terraces which is quite reminiscent of steppe cultivation. This innovative design of the Jean Moulin High School has tried to incorporate the natural topography of the green hills into the basic structure without ‘urbanizing’ the beautiful lush green environs of the hills with concrete buildings. This school is truly an eco friendly architectural design that forms a green cascading pattern on the hillside maintaining the ‘green’ aspect of the hill.

The project would be completed next year in 2012 and prove to be a school that would impart green and sustainable living. Apart from that, the school would also provide the students a natural studying environment. The Lycee Jean Moulin would be a fine example of how architecture can be achieved in a ‘green’ and environmentally friendly manner.
