Eco Factor: Self-powered streetlights harvest solar and wind energy.

In an effort to reduce demand for grid electricity, Loopwing Korea has demonstrated new streetlights and renewable energy generators at the Renewable Energy World 2010. The loopwing-type wind power generators have a unique loop-shaped wing structure which makes it possible to convert wind speeds as low as 2m/s into electricity.

The unique design also helps the product generate energy without producing much noise. The wind power generator is divided into two modules, a self-powered streetlight and the μ series of portable wind generators. The streetlight, dubbed the TRONC, includes a hybrid solar and wind energy generator. The streetlight doesn’t require any additional power source and can be connected to external devices like LED display systems as well.
