Study: Laser printers’ indoor emissions as hazardous as smoking cigarettes!

laser printers emit potentially hazardous indoor pTrue, in the present happening world of communication highways’ getting competitive, you can’t do without the gadgets – irrespective of their environmental or health hazards.

Similar is the case with that laser printer in your home or office.

Do you know, just a single printer can emit as much small-particle pollutants as a burning cigarette can? This astounding result is found by a team of Australian researchers.

So, regulation on such printers should be “as stringent as on smoking cigarettes.” In a shocking result, it has been found that the medium-emitting laser printers can emit 100 times more particles compared to their low-emitting counterparts.

This difference is even larger when compared to the high pollution-emitting printers. Compared to the so ‘can-be-addressed’ low-emitting printers, the high-emitters are found to emit 1,000 times more particles.

The researchers have undertaken prominent brand like the Canon, HP Color LaserJet, Ricoh, and Toshiba for their polluting-research. Shockingly, the resulting emission differences are found to be more or less the same for all — depending on the environment.

Thus, choosing the right kind of printer has taken importance, as taking off the whole concept of printers is no practical solution, as nothing can replace them abruptly.

The same printer, under different circumstances, might eventually emit different levels of pollution. The laser printer-emitted very fine particles could lead to serious health hazards: forgetting the injuries to the already ailing environment.
