Eco Factor: Sustainable building wrapped in wind turbines.

Julien de Smedt Architects have proposed a sustainable tower city for the city of Shenzhen in China, which will serve as a greenery-filled vertical forest that can also generate energy from natural sources. Christened the Logistic City, the sustainable building towers 1111 meters in height and will be wrapped in lush plant life and wind turbines.

Within the city lifted public space is surrounded by shops, offices and housing. With a height of more than a kilometer, the tower’s open spaces that allow for plenty of wind circulation have been brought into good use by filling them with wind turbines that can pump power into the city’s system. In addition to adding some greenery to the city and generating renewable energy, efficient water harvesting systems will also be incorporated.
